ONWA’s role in Policy and Research is to ensure that the views of Aboriginal women are represented in national, provincial and local policies, legislature development and strategies. The Policy and Research Department is currently made up of two policy analysts: Health and Housing. The department will be expanding to include two Research Analysts, an Aboriginal Healing and Wellness Strategy Policy Analyst and an Aboriginal Skills & Employment Training Policy Analyst. By engaging with individuals, communities, ONWA Locals and governments; the Policy and Research Department looks to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal women and their families. Recognizing the need for integrated and collaborative approaches to health and housing, the policy analysts embrace a holistic approach when addressing the priorities of Aboriginal women and their families.
