Gambling can be an occasional source of entertainment when the amount of money or material items used to gamble is reasonable, calculated and safe. Gambling can be entertainment when it is easy to stop and a balance is maintained in harmony with other enjoyable activities.
However, a problem can develop with gambling and this problem can become an overpowering addiction. Then gambling is no longer a game, it is no longer a matter of entertainment or recreation, but instead an obsession. Problem Gambling becomes an obsession that can overtake and destroy the life of the problem gambler as well as the lives of their family and friends.
